CANELILLO needs operations to be able to walk again..

4th of September: he already is in his foster home. And he made the impossible possible: he stands up, eats, moves his tail...He is a big fighter with an even bigger heart. But still seems to be a puppy. We hope that the coming 3 weeks will lead to good results. What most we hope is to find a familiy for Canelillo, where he can live and receive all the care needed!

3rd of September: We are desperate to see him suffering that much. Cane was taken to the veterinarian and his proposals are the following. he has to wear bandages over a period of 2- 3 weeks to see if he regains force in his legs. These will be wraped around his front legs and paws. If it does not help we need to operate him. Plates will be implantated to support him standing up.Then he needs to rest for approx. 2 months. But this is not all. Since his shoulder and ellbows are damaged and degenerating (mainly the right side) and demand a novel type of operation carried out only 8 times in Spain so far. Because it is very cost-intensly we can hardly afford it but we will keep on hoping with all our strength!

We await the results after these 2 - 3 weeks. Right now he looks like a kangaroo: the few moments he puts himself on his feet his front legs are dangling in the air while he is suffering a lot, whimmering and crying... We need a place for him where he can rest, without steps but with a garden, with no further dogs and a responsible person that take him to the doc each 5 days and giv him his medicine.

His live was never easy. Since being a puppy he lived with a drug adicted person and after he was taken to jail he and his 2 companions came to our shelter.  There he grew up and nobody ever showed any interest although he is a calm, nobel dog.

One day we realised that he suffered meanwhile walking and  he hoobled. The veterinarians had no idea what could have happended. He lost muscle mass and avoided exercise. We took him to a fosterhome but on arrival he escaped because he was feared of the other dog. Only 50 m further he droped himself on the floor, weak as he was. Immediately we took him to the doc and had all investigations done. The diagnosis was the following: rupture of cruciate ligament and carpus-luxation in both front paws. Canelillo cannot put himself on his feet unless we operate him.

The operation can be done but he needs a long resting period. The problem is the high costs, it will be hard to finance. Therefore we would kindly ask for your financial help in order to regain relief for  our Canelillo!

He is 4 years, medium-big size, 21 kg at present
